1953–54 Dumbarton F.C. season : ウィキペディア英語版
1953–54 Dumbarton F.C. season

Season 1953–54 was the 77th season in which Dumbarton competed at a Scottish national level, entering the Scottish Football League for the 48th time, the Scottish Cup for the 59th time and the Scottish League Cup for the 8th time.
== Overview ==
After three seasons of mid-table finishes, Dumbarton fell to rock-bottom 16th place, with 22 points, 23 behind champions Motherwell. The winning of Division C (North-East) by Brechin City effectively relegated Dumbarton - the first time in 50 years that the club would play league football outside the top two divisions.
In the Scottish Cup, there was another disappointing first round exit with Dumbarton losing to Stirling Albion.
Another 'bottom' finish (4th of 4) was recorded in the League Cup sectional games, with only a single win and a draw from 6 matches.
And to complete a disastrous season, Dumbarton's grip on the Stirlingshire Cup was easily released by defeat in the first round to Falkirk.
All in all, 109 goals were conceded in all national competitions during the season (5 or more goals were scored against Dumbarton on no less than 9 occasions) - a new (unwanted!) record.
